AliongRwanda – Community-Based Tourism that Celebrates Rwandan Culture
AliongRwanda offers unique, community-led cultural tourism experiences rooted in the daily lives, traditions, and creativity of Rwandan people. Guided by Rwanda’s national Community-Based Tourism (CBT) framework, our initiative empowers local artisans, women, youth, and cooperatives to benefit directly from tourism while preserving their cultural identity.
Our experiences immerse guests in:
Traditional handcraft making (basket weaving, pottery, woodworking)
Local beverage brewing – experience how ibigage and inzagwa are prepared
Cultural expressions – enjoy live performances of poetry (imivugo), traditional songs, and dances
Rwandan traditional weddings (ubukwe gakondo) – observe or participate in rich cultural rituals
Visits to community cooperatives – meet the people driving rural innovation and creativity
All our activities meet the national CBT standards for:
Community ownership and participation
Cultural authenticity
Environmental sustainability
Benefit-sharing and local empowerment
By partnering with AliongRwanda, tourists and travel companies contribute to a fair, immersive, and responsible tourism model that uplifts rural livelihoods and strengthens Rwanda’s cultural tourism brand.
Come live, learn, and celebrate Rwanda through the eyes of its people—with AliongRwanda
